Making It Easy For Your Customers To Leave A Google Review

Being in the digital marketing space, I always stress the importance of online reviews to my clients. Online reviews generate credibility, help improve your local online presence, and in many cases will prompt potential clients to click on your local listing before your competitors. The two most important places to get online reviews are your Google My Business and Yelp business pages. Why is that?

First, Google is the most widely used search engine with 81% market share. If you want to be visible on Google you have to make sure to use their products. Creating a Google My Business page is a great first step to letting Google know your business exists and finding new customers online. Second, almost 60% of people are browsing the internet on their mobile devices. You must optimize your business for smartphones (both Android and iPhone). For example, If an iPhone user asks Siri for a “Restaurant near me”, a series of local restaurants will show up. But if you look closely, iPhones are set up to source Yelp reviews. Likewise, if an Android user utilizes their voice command system and again asks for “Restaurants near me”, they will notice that Androids source Google reviews. Moral of the story, it’s important to get reviews on both platforms!

For this post, we are just going to focus on Google Reviews (I will write a post in the future about Yelp Reviews).

Below I have put together a simple step-by-step guide so you can instruct your clients how to post a Google Review for your business as an added bonus, I have provided a template that you can download and alter as you see fit.

Step 1: Go to www.Google.com

Step 2: Type in “Company Name” then click the “Google Search” button.

Step 3: Click the “Write a review” button on the right sidebar. I’ve circled where it’s located in red.

Step 4: Click the “Sign In” button on the bottom right of the pop-up.

Step 5a: Next a pop-up will come up. If you have a Gmail account already, sign in. If not, proceed to Step 5b.

Step 5b: If you don’t have an account, you will need to click “More Options” button and then “Create an Account”.

Step 6: Once you are logged in, you will be brought to the screen below. Choose your star rating. Remember a 1-star rating is the lowest while a 5-star rating is the best! Then, write a comment and then click “post”.

Step 7: Smile, you just left your first review!
